Adi’s 1st B-day

So you may wonder why I never posted Adi’s first b-day party. No, I don’t love Adi any less, don’t even joke about that! I just got crazy busy at the beginning of summer! I just read an article about summer’s in the PNW that describe it perfectly. Basically, summer in the PNW is such a short time period that you feel like you need to pack every waking moment with some sort of outdoor activity to soak up the limited sun we get. And this being the first summer I was somewhat able to be active with 2 able bodied children, we did just that. So with our activity level up, and just trying to catch up on life/house things that I hadn’t been able to do while pregnant or with babies for the last 3 years that we’ve been here, I quite blogging. If you look back on our summer posts, if it wasn’t done on the phone, it wasn’t done. And Adi’s party pictures were on the camera, and that’s where they stayed, until now. So here we go…
Although I know not everyone agrees, I am her mother so therefore the expert on her and I consider Adi a redhead (or strawberry blonde if you prefer). To celebrate this uniqueness I threw Adi a red party, even asking the guests (who remembered) to wear red.

Here is Adi with Sister and cousin Elisa, and photo bombed from cousin Owen in the background. Of the five pictures of these 3 (4), not one of them had all 3 (4) looking at the camera. Just a typical kid photo. So I picked the one that Adi looked best since it was her party. Gotta love Elisa’s dedication to wearing red!DSC_0353 (1024x681)
Adi did much better eating the cupcake than Bri did. After waiting for me to blow out the candle and listening to everyone sing her a song, she dug right into… the frosting. Not so much the cake, but definitely liked the frosting. (Red velvet cake for the record.)DSC_0356 (1024x681)DSC_0360 (1024x681)
Good pic of Bri and Grandma.

Adi, hamming it up with Nana. It was fun watching her throughout the party. It seemed like she understood that the celebration was for her and she loved all the attention. DSC_0370 (1024x681)
Pretty sure Papa did something to offend the birthday girl in this string of pics. No one messes with Red and gets away with it.DSC_0381 (1024x681)DSC_0382 (1024x681)DSC_0383 (1024x681)DSC_0384 (1024x681)
And finally, here’s a good one of Adi and her cousin Bella. What beauties.

Happy Birthday Adi. We love you!

Day 2 (2 of 2)

Pic 9, found a cool bench for the girls and I to rest on. Hey, don't judge, "hiking" with toddlers is a lot of work!

We crossed down to the beach where Bri decided to pick up every creature we founs. Pic 10 is a caterpillar. It pooped on her. But wouldn't you if something 10x your size picked you up? Pic 11 is a dead crab. She actually has a little crab in the other hand but you can't see it.

Well, after the hike we decided to head. With our little sleep and long boat ride back, we wanted to get home and relax a bit before the week began. Steve let Bri drive the boat bavk part way. We didn't go in tje straightest line but did discover driving with your feet is fun! (Pic 12) And with that, our trip comes to a close. Hope you had fun and we look forward to share more sailings adventures with you in the future.

Day 2 (1 of 2)

I'll admit, I didn't get my best night's sleep our first night on the boat, but after going through 2 babie's erratic sleep schedules, it wasn't the worst either. But sleep is boring, let's talk about the pics.

We decided to take advantage of one of the many hiking trails before heading home so we layered up and took off. Adi... took the lead. (Pic 1)

Look at our beautiful surroundings (Pic 2-4) all within a 30 min drive from out house.

Adi "hiked" for about 15 min before whining, running to daddy, putting her head down and raising up on her tippy toes which is obviously the universal sign to be picked up. (Pic 5 & 6 hiking and carried)

I've got nothing for these next 2 pictures except I love the one of Adi and for Steve and Bri?.. I told them to look like the roots. I guess I call it interpreted statuing. It's a thing. (Pic 7 & 8)

I reached the size capacity on this email, so I'll split this into 2 posts.

First overnight in the boat

Captain Val here to tell you about our first overnight in the sailboat. It hasn't technically happened yet, but we are parked on the dock at Penrose Point (see pic 1), waiting for our bedtime. Adi's finally asleep and Bri, she's learning about stars because this is all too exciting to sleep. (Pic 2 is of Bri cuddling with Daddy. He wasn't quite ready for the picture.)

The girls did great on the way out here, eating their snacks at the table and watching for sea life as we sailed by. (Pic 3 & 4 show off their cuteness).

We got to the dock right at dinner time (for the ederly and the parents of toddlers, that's 5pm) and I whipped us up some Mac n Cheese (an early marriage specialty of mine) and we sat down as a family at the table for the first time on out boat. (Pic 5)

Steve volunteered to clean up after dinner so I took the girls down to the rocky shore. Bri collected nature and Adi collected sea water. (Pic 6 &7) Good thing I rolled up her pants so they wouldn't get wet.

And now, we're on the boat looking at the stars and introducing Bri to another piece of God's artwork.

Until next time, Captain Val. (Pic 8)

Adi sure loves watermelon. She pilfered numerous conveniently unattended pieces on the grass.

Zoo

Papa took us girls to the zoo today. It was a long but fun day. I didn't get a lot of pictures of the animals but since I'm pretty sure you all know what a giraffe looks like, you can get over it.

So check out their intense gazing at the animals, the awesome dance/shaker moves (and matching dresses), the young fella holding the door for 2 cute chicks, the hand holding, the kissing and the afterparty. All around fun.

Sightseeing

My mom (Nana) is here for Adi's 1st birthday this weekend and we decided to do some sightseeing. To Seattle we went.

First up, the monorail. Now some might not think this a tourist attraction, but when your 2 1/2, it's pretty darn close to the coolest thing you've ever seen!

Onto the Space Needle. Although you might think a 2 1/2 year old would be bored looking at buildings from really high up, you probably weren't aware that one of the buildings had large spiders painted on top of it which is probably the second coolest thing you've ever seen! As for the rest of us older than 3, check out that view behind Nana and Bri.

Last we headed over to the Public Market where sat on a pig. We also found the restrooms. This sign was helpful in that I didn't know the proper way to carry a smelly baby. Lesson learned Seattle, thank you.

Daddy's Home

Daddy's homecoming part 2. You may remember the video we posted of Bri's reaction to Steve coming home, well, here's Adi's version.

Outdoor projects

The sun is out, I'm not pregnant or newly recovering from the birth experience, so I am getting outdoors and getting some projects done. I also have two very will employees to help out with my various chores. First on patio clean up is my newest employee, Adi. Although the hose to spray down our patio and remove the years of built up mud and moss is actually taller than she is, she happily volunteered to do the job. Such a good work ethic at such a young age.
Since Bri's almost 3 I figured it was about time to teach her how to use power tools. She is a Teodoro after-all. So I set her up breaking down pallets so I could build some flower beds. Don't worry, I taught the proper safety measures needed before operating a power tool, mainly safety glasses and gloves. Don't worry about the fact that the gloves are on the wrong hands and way to big, oh, and that she is not wearing shoes. I figure the best way to learn is to just get in there and do it right? What a great example for her little sister.
Well with my two beauties working diligently near by, I, being a manager a heart, took up my post managing and directing their activities. I clearly worked the hardest this afternoon.
