Kitchen Remodel Stage Two

The other side of the wall cabinets in the kitchen was a little more work because it's constrained not just by the wall, but by the door opening too.
We had planned on keeping the original exhaust fan over the oven.

After realizing that it was going to be a pain to put the old exhaust fan back up, we decided to buy a new over oven microwave. This required wiring a new outlet as well since the old fan was hard-wired in.

Lots of cutting up the nice new cabinets.

Everything managed to fit together as planned. The only thing i have left to do is connect the duct work from the microwave to the exhaust duct.

All done (except for the duct work).

Lowering my bike.

Being a dirtbike, my bike sits pretty high. This is fine when I'm riding, but can be kind of a pain when going around town because of stoplights and such and having to be on my toes to keep from falling over. The seat started 35.75" high and I was able to lower it to 35". Not a huge difference, but enough to make it a little more comfortable waiting for stoplights.

I needed a way to keep the bike upright and strapping it to the shelf in my garage worked pretty well.

Later I figured out that the rear stand for my old bike could be used as a center stand for the new one. It doesn't quite fit, but worked to get the bike up in the air. Between the center stand and the jack you can see some linkage hanging down. That is what i disassembled to lower the rear some with the built in adjustment.

Most of the lowering came from loosening the triple clamps on the front forks and moving them up. Originally the aluminum top plates of the forks were flush with the triple clamps.

Kitchen Remodel Stage One

Assembly Required.

Demolition of old cabinets.

Matt learns the joys of the Wonder Bar; that glorious tool whose actual purpose is to do all those things that you misuse other tools trying to do. All and all, a well spent $8.

Installing the support rail for the new cabinets.

Hanging the new cabinets on the rail.

Install the doors and handles.

Stage 1 almost done.

They just needed shelves.

I got a new bike!

Backstory.....
I got my first motorcycle back in 05. It was a 2000 Yamaha YZF600R and I put about 3k miles on it before selling it last Monday.

Present....
I just got a new 08 Yamaha WR250x on Friday. It's all kinds of fun. Basically a street legal dirtbike but it's got street tires and turn signals and such (supermoto is the official term). It's super light and turney and much more of a toy than my old one. I can actually take the twisties faster on this bike than on my old one despite having way less power and sitting so much higher. It's so light (140lb less than my old one) i can just throw it around and lean it way over on turns. Future plans entail some protective gear (for the bike and myself) and a set of dirt tires so i can get off road.

Specs on the new bike if you're interested.

Pictures....

So technically it had .2 miles on it when i brought it home but the odometer doesn't show in tenths.

The old bike.
