Big tree

Decided to do a little site seeing today and check out the Angel Oak Tree. It's a big tree. 400-500 years old. 66.5' tall. 28' circumference (just look at how small the girls look in the picture). Longest branch is 187'. And the shade cover from the tree... 17, 200sq.ft. No, I did not type that wrong. We got there 2 minutes before the park closed (didn't realize beforehand the park had hours), so it was a quick photo shoot, and big sigh and a high tail outta there to find a real park for the kids to blow off some energy. Oaks are one of my favorites and this is one beautiful tree.

Block Party

The church we went to while out here had a block party. Kind of a neat outreach actually with what looked like a good turnout. Before the block party members of the church when door to door thru the surrounding community to invite their neighbors to the event. The coordinator had every last detail planned to a precision I can only aspire to!

At the event they had bounce houses, petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games, entertainment (local dance troupes and a dj), popcorn and cotton candy, and a throwing game to knock coffee cans down. I only mention that last game because I owned it!

The pictures are of Adi checking out the baby goats (Joeys), Bri riding a pony and the family photo opportunity sitting on a stuffed bull named Lunch. Yes, Lunch. But how can it be a family photo with no Adi? Did we train her to take pictures? Did the goats get her? Nah, she is represented by the balloon surrounding Steve's head. The balloon is tied to her wrist and she is riding in the backpack and as you can see, the angle the photographer chose was not optimal  for catching our little red head.

Day at the beach

Saturday was a nice day so we took the girls to the beach. It was Adi's first time playing in the sand and as you can see in the picture, she loved. So much in fact we had to keep an eye on her to make sure she didn't take too much of it home... in her belly!

Bri loved it as always. Her play consisted of throwing sand, burying her daddy, throwing shells, getting buried by her daddy, throwing seaweed, sliding down in the inner tube and jumping, running and twirling. So fun.

Diva

She picked these sunglasses out all by herself. Not only does Sreve produce girls, he produces girly girls.

Captivated

Adi was mezmorized by our tempinaki chef tonight. Had no problems with the fire portion or the loud noises. Sorry it's such a dark picture. The flash ruined her look and the room was dark for better fire viewing. How did Bri do you ask? She was yelling "More Fire" after each trick. She did well.

So I put Bri down for her nap in her crib and took Adi to our room to let her sleep on me. Well Adi's sleeping on me as planned but Bri is sitting beside me watching cars. Guess we put her crib too close to the bed. I believe she used it to get out of her crib. :-/

So tired

Poor thing is so tired. Nap schedules are off so she sleeps every chance she gets. This picture was taken after tickling her feet. She's out.

Good sister

Bri is helping me get a break by feeding her sister cheerios for me. The sun wipes me out so I'm watching a bit of tv while sisters play. Good stuff.

Babydoll watches Bri while she eats. Bri sets up whichever toy she happens to have that day to watch her eat breakfast/lunch/dinner.

8 months

DSC_0034 (1024x681)DSC_0047 (1024x681)DSC_0060 (1024x681)

Ah, our sweet Adi has turned 8 months old. She is just a joy and a perfect addition to our silly family. She’s officially a crawler now but mainly crawls to a place she can pull herself up to cruise. The girls frequently make each other laugh which I cannot get enough of! (As you can see in the last picture.)

Bri is becoming a better sister everyday. She’s always loved her sister but the word “gentle” is not her part of her vocabulary. Although she is no more gentle now then she was 8 months ago she is learning when Adi says “No” (by crying) and doing a much better job at stopping what she’s doing and trying to make Adi better by bringing her a toy. It’s pretty cute really. Probably the most important reason for Bri being better with her sister is Adi is stronger now and can handle more of Bri’s shenanigans. I’m hoping now that Adi can crawl she’ll leave a situation if it’s bothering her, although I have a feeling that will not be the case. Adi does love her sister and sometimes I think I take second place to Bri for who she wants to spend time with. (Poor Steve doesn’t have a chance!)

Bri is also a big helper around the house. I feel I’m getting a bit lazy since I can now direct Bri to put my shoes in my closet, get me a blanket, or bring me the peanut butter, and she’ll do it, no questions asked. Oh yes, this is a good thing. I will miss this helpful stage when she grows out of it. Hopefully it will be at the same time Adi is entering the helpful stage then I’ll still have someone to sort the socks, wipe the dinner table and carry a grocery bag. Who said having kids didn’t have it’s benefits.

Snow!

Fun in the February snow. I have mixed feelings of this snow. On one hand, I'm a bit worried for all the plants I planted last year that may not have had a chance to establish before such a late season freeze... but then again, snow is fun so I think the memories will outlast the dead plants.
